However, this apparent revelation was soon debunked as a hoax when no official confirmation or obituary emerged from any credible source.

Contrary to the misleading social media post, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has confirmed that Diane Downs is very much alive.

Presently, she is in custody at the Central California Women’s Facility. As of August 2021, Downs is 68 years old and is slated for her next parole hearing in December 2024.

Diane Downs Health In 2023

They were adopted by the lead prosecutor, Fred Hugi, and his wife Joanne, who changed their names to Jennifer and James Hugi.

Diane Downs also gave birth to another daughter, Amy Elizabeth, in 1984, shortly after her sentencing. She was adopted by Chris and Jackie Babcock, who renamed her Rebecca Babcock.
